Summer News 2015
In July, a team came down from CC Merritt Island to help us out with covering up graffiti on the church and repainting much of the school. It is good to have things looking new again. The team was joined by John Meneghini, his son Noah, and his daughter Michaela. John and his son, as always, helped us a bunch with network and computer issues.
Alysha Rosado came down on her own for a few weeks. She worked with the CCMI team and helped out around the church in many ways. She and Michaela Meneghini stayed for a while after the team left to help out in the school.
They also inspired us to take the youth group on a field trip! Cal and Jessie brought about 20 young people and chaperone’s to Volcano Cerro Negro, one of the youngest volcanoes (and one of the most active) in the western hemisphere. We hiked up the side in some unusually intense wind, many of us carrying sleds to slide down on. It was a wonderful time! Thanks, in part, to our youth leader Rene for helping with the costs.
n August Jeremy Foster and his daughter Emily spent a week helping out with the school and various projects around the church. It was a blessing to Cal to have Jeremy’s companionship for a week that otherwise might have been stressful due to car repairs and other such hassles.
A Carolina selfie. She is a great principal/leader for our school.
Saturday night on Sept 26, we held a special prayer and worship service until midnight that was well attended. Cal, Gustavo, and Elvis all shared messages encouraging people to fast, pray, and love each other; and the youth led worship, with the help of Gustavo and Elvis. Jessie helped set up snacks and drinks, including lots of coffee!
As always our primary school has been active with a day to honor a famous battle in Nicaraguan history on September 14 and a special day to celebrate the 445thyear of the Bible being translated into Spanish on September 24th.
The youth always have fun on an outing.
Marylin enjoyed visiting with Michaela and Alysha.
